Meet Patty Fisher
Vitro Certified®
Network Coordinator, Vitro Architectural Glass
When Vitro acquired PPG’s flat glass business in 2016, Patty Fisher, a long-time PPG employee, took on a pivotal role in the transition. She didn't just see a chance, she created one. Her resourcefulness and adaptability were evident as she led a pioneering effort to produce a dynamic booth at Glasstec, the world's leading glass industry trade show in Germany, meeting the challenge and elevating Vitro's image, leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues.
“This was the first show after the acquisition, and my goal was to showcase Vitro’s diverse businesses and make a splash in the industry,” recalled Fisher. “It was challenging coordinating displays, design and overall message, but I took it under my wing and made it my own. It was great to see my vision become reality.”
This career-defining moment, as she put it, “Opened doors to all kinds of opportunities.”
Today, Patty is the Vitro Certified®
Network Coordinator, where she facilitates all aspects of the program. Perhaps you met her at the recent annual Vitro Certified®
Network meeting in Napa? If you haven’t met her yet, don’t worry, you likely will soon.
Patty also handles member communications as Vitro’s Global Sales Coordinator for the United States, Canada and ROW (Rest of World). She previously was Vitro’s International Architectural Services & Marketing Manager, overseeing the Vitro Certified®
International Fabricator Program and liaising for international projects.
While Patty wears many hats, her favorite responsibility is coordinating events and trade shows that have taken her to dozens of countries worldwide, like China, Australia, and even as far as Tasmania. This global perspective has enriched her understanding of different cultures and their unique architectural landscapes.
“Getting to travel to other countries and see their city’s skylines, how their architecture has unfolded, and the uniqueness and beauty of their buildings is very exciting,” said Fisher. “I love meeting with customers to learn more about their projects and how Vitro is a part of them. I’m grateful that many of those colleagues have become close friends over the years.”
Fisher joined PPG in 1991, and May marked her 33rd year, which brought a mix of memories as she considered her career experiences and successes that she attributes to self-reliance. Fisher also shared her appreciation for Vitro executives and leadership, who foster a culture of openness to helping employees be ambitious and enterprising.
“I’m a self-starter. I like to get things done and see things through in an organized and timely manner,” shared Fisher. “Over time, my role has evolved and developed, and that’s because Vitro encourages us and gives us the flexibility to be included in various tasks and projects. They want you to be active, involved and try different things.”
When Fisher isn’t producing trade show booths that don the covers of glass magazines and publications or coordinating glass conferences and events around the globe, she enjoys being outdoors and traveling. She also enjoys remodeling and do-it-yourself projects. In fact, she recently converted her dining room into a bar/lounge area.
“I like staying busy and seeing my ideas and visions come to life. I love creating environments that bring my family and friends together,” she said.
