Get to Know Vitro: Laura Stackhouse

For Laura Stackhouse, the best part of any journey isn't reaching the destination. It's continuing to learn along the way.

Laura Stackhouse

As Vitro's Senior Supply Chain/Transportation Analyst, Laura helps coordinate inventory and transportation across multiple facilities, ensuring products are where they need to be when they need to be there. With nearly 20 years of experience in supply chain and logistics, including almost a decade at Vitro, she's built a career rooted in curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to tackle challenges head-on.

A Career That Chose Her

Like many people in supply chain, Laura didn't necessarily set out to build a career in logistics. What began as an opportunity evolved into a profession she quickly found rewarding because no two situations are alike.

Over the years, she has worked across multiple industries, gaining experience in transportation, inventory management and operations. Each role offered a different perspective, helping her develop the broad understanding she brings to her work today.

That experience has also given Laura a firsthand view of how dramatically the industry has evolved. New technology, improved visibility and faster access to information have transformed the way transportation and supply chain teams operate.

Behind the Scenes at Vitro

At Vitro, Laura works closely with teams across the company's manufacturing network to coordinate the movement of glass between facilities.

Because certain products require specialized coating or manufacturing capabilities, glass may travel through multiple locations before reaching a customer. Laura helps ensure inventory is positioned appropriately while working with transportation providers and internal teams to support production schedules.

Much of her job involves evaluating information and identifying the best path forward.

"I like to look at all the options before making a recommendation," Laura said. "I want to understand what's available and determine the best solution for the company."

Innovation in Motion

One aspect of Laura's work that keeps her engaged is the opportunity to explore new ideas and emerging trends in transportation.

She has been involved in efforts to evaluate rail transportation opportunities and analyze the environmental benefits associated with those shipments. In some cases, carriers can provide data that helps quantify carbon savings, offering additional insight into how products move through the supply chain.

She is also interested in technologies that could reshape the industry in the future, including autonomous trucking and other innovations designed to improve efficiency.

"For me, the most rewarding part is finding ways to work more efficiently, save money and improve the company's bottom line," she said.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

Throughout her career, Laura has benefited from leaders who encouraged her growth and trusted her judgment.

One piece of advice that has stayed with her came from a manager who reminded her to slow down when faced with a difficult challenge. Instead of trying to solve everything at once, focus on the immediate priority and work through it step by step.

It's an approach she still relies on today and one she shares with others entering the profession.

Laura especially encourages women pursuing careers in supply chain or transportation to be confident in their abilities and trust the value of their perspectives. She believes success comes from hard work, preparation and a willingness to keep learning.

Outside the Office

When she's not working, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and being active in her church community.

She also appreciates opportunities to unplug and spend time outdoors. Whether she's on the lake, taking a walk or simply enjoying nature, those moments provide a chance to recharge and reconnect.
