Meet Dan Plotnick
Northeast USA Commercial Account Manager and International Sales Manager
In the eyes of Daniel Plotnick, glass isn’t just a product—it’s an opportunity to create something extraordinary.
As New England Territory Manager and International Sales Manager at Vitro, Plotnick’s dual role puts him at the center of both domestic and global markets, ensuring Vitro meets the distinct needs of every region it serves.
“I’m fortunate to have a job that lets me act as a bit of a bridge,” he said. “Domestically, I manage key markets in central New Jersey, New York and New England. Internationally, I manage our sales team and oversee sales strategies throughout the rest of the world, excluding Latin America.”
With over 20 years of commercial glass sales experience, including 10 years abroad, Plotnick is no stranger to navigating challenges and adapting to change.
“Earlier in my career, I had the chance to work in places like Shanghai, Hong Kong and Thailand," he said. "Living overseas completely shifted my perspective and prepared me to manage complex, multinational projects as well as understand customers who use our glass to make something as simple as swimming pool tiles. It forces you to be flexible.”
Even with his extensive experience, Plotnick values continuous learning, especially in the face of obstacles. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he encountered hurdles that tested his team’s problem-solving skills.
“We faced major supply chain disruptions throughout COVID, particularly when trying to move glass into markets like Turkey and Western Europe,” he said. “Even with demand at an all-time high, shipping delays stretched our operations to the limit. Balancing these pressures while supporting our clients was tough, but it made our team more resilient.”
For Plotnick, the greatest rewards of his career aren’t just about successful sales—they come from building meaningful partnerships.
“Glass is such a collaborative industry. The relationships I’ve formed with clients and colleagues at Vitro are the most fulfilling part of the job. At the end of the day, it’s the people who make this work so rewarding.”
Outside of work, Plotnick is a man of many passions. He loves traveling with his family, combining his sense of adventure with active pursuits.
“This year, we’ve planned a ski trip to Utah, which my family is really looking forward to,” he said. His adventurous side doesn’t end there. “I’m also a private pilot and fly a small plane, which is an amazing experience. When I’m not flying, you can find me on the golf course or tennis court. I played competitive tennis in college.”
Moving forward, Plotnick is committed to using his unique role to help shape the future of architecture through collaboration and innovation.
“Vitro is in a unique position. We’re not just selling glass; we’re helping create iconic projects,” he said. “My role is to ensure every partner, whether in Boston or Istanbul, gets the solutions they need to succeed. We’re here to support you every step of the way.”
