Meet Annissa Flickinger
Regional Architectural Team Manager, Eastern North America, Vitro Architectural GlassEver since starting with Vitro (then PPG Industries) in 2004 as an architectural services coordinator, Annissa Flickinger has been developing and maintaining meaningful relationships. Whether she’s working with architects, architectural managers or members of Vitro’s commercial and marketing teams, Annissa is passionate about solving problems through effective communication.
“I love the relationships,” Annissa said. “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know our customers and helping them on some of their larger projects over the years. It’s very much a team approach.”
After working for the better part of the last two years as the Global Architectural Manager, Annissa was recently promoted to Vitro’s Regional Architectural Team Manager for the East. In her new role, Vitro’s Architectural Managers (NAMs) serving the eastern side of the U.S. and Canada will report directly to Annissa. She will also work with commercial account manager counterparts to provide project leads to Vitro Certified Network™ (VCN) members.
“I’m very excited about this leadership opportunity,” she said. “I really enjoy the people that make up this team. They have some exceptional skills from past experience, whether it's from being a glazing contractor, working with a curtainwall company or in another glass manufacturing role. Together, this team has an exceptional skillset that will help drive more new opportunities for Vitro and our customers.”
Annissa also will be responsible for developing more Vitro specifications for a wide range of projects in the region, a challenge she embraces with open arms. She and her team are already working on providing timely and actionable project leads to VCN members and strengthening relationships with architectural firms with the goal of making Vitro their first choice for glass specification.
“I’m always asking myself how I can add more value to the customer,” Annissa said. “There are a lot of things that we want to push, but in the end, we have to understand what the customer needs from us, and that goes for architects as well. What do they need from us, and how do we adapt to that? I see it as a lot of problem solving.”
Even when she’s out of the office, Annissa still loves to solve problems. She enjoys working on thousand-piece puzzles as well as playing golf, gardening and spending time with her family.
“I have three boys who are 13 and 11, and there are twins in there,” she said. “Getting into some of their craziness and playing unique games that they come up with is always a lot of fun.”
Though this may not have been the path she envisioned for herself almost 20 years ago with a marketing and finance degree, Annissa is right where she belongs: at the center of Vitro’s efforts to build long-lasting relationships with customers.
“I think what’s really cool is that somebody who has essentially no architectural training can influence what a building ultimately looks like,” she said. “Certain buildings look the way they do because of something I did, and they’re going to look that way for 30, 40 or however many years because of an influence I had with regards to the glass.”
