Meet Emily Losego
MSVD Product Manager, Vitro Architectural Glass
Emily Losego has always had a creative mind.
As a registered architect, she began her career working at architecture firms in Pittsburgh and honing her skills as a designer. However, despite her love for architecture, Emily felt her skills and passion could be better utilized with a leading product manufacturer.
“Moving into an architectural product business like Vitro seemed to be a better fit,” she says. “I know how architects think and how to best help them, so when I started out in Architectural Services, I was working with a lot of architects and glaziers to answer their questions and provide samples of our products.”
Emily eventually took her work on the road as a National Architectural Manager (NAM), visiting architects and firms in the field across the Great Lakes region to consult with them about Vitro’s range of architectural glass products. In September 2019, she had the opportunity to return to her home base and take on a new role as architectural services team leader, coming full circle in her journey in the Architectural Services department.
Now, she’s taking on a new challenge: Emily is the new manager of magnetron sputtered vacuum deposition (MSVD) products at Vitro, and she’s also working with Vitro’s Marketing & Innovation Team to bring new coated glass product ideas from the drawing board to the production line.
“As MSVD Product Manager, I’m working with a lot of field teams – especially the sales team, and our excellent architectural and sales managers,” Emily says. “They call on our Vitro Certified™ Network members to help them identify the products they need, and I help tie all the pieces together on the back end by working with our plants to plan for demand and prepare supply chains.”
She adds, “It’s a different view of the company than I had in my previous role, but it’s still driven by architectural projects.”
“Another part of my role is supporting innovation by working with R&D to develop new products that will eventually go to market and be available to customers,” she explains. “Because the Marketing & Innovation Team is new, we’re able to define ourselves and we have more flexibility to try out new ideas. Our ethos is: ‘We’re not saying ‘no.’”
Emily also has the unique opportunity to work directly with Vitro Commercial Account Managers (CAMs) to understand customer feedback and help meet the demands of fabricators by supplying them the best glass to make their projects come to life, which will undoubtedly lead to innovations and even entirely new products.
“The development of new products is really exciting,” she says. “It’s challenging – we’re going down paths we haven’t really gone down before and are stepping outside of our comfort zones. The challenge is in working with the unknown, but it’s very exciting because it’s a limitless opportunity to explore and to put my mark on the products that we sell.”
Emily hopes to use her understanding of the mind of an architect to continue to innovate and think big.
“We see ourselves as crafting the future of Vitro,” says Emily. “We ask ourselves, ‘What are we going to do, offer, or explore next?’ If a client has an idea or a request, we’re going to look at what their needs are and try to develop a product or solution to make that possible. We want to know what you need.”
Of course, Emily isn’t just taking on new challenges at work.
“Family time is huge – my husband and I just had twins over the summer, so now we have three kids under three,” Emily says. “Family life has been really exciting as everyone is growing and changing. My husband also does residential renovations, so I like to do unofficial design consulting on his projects. We love home improvement and gardening, both at our own home and with ‘fixer upper’ projects.”
